Can I use my existing propane BBQ and convert it to natural gas?
This is only possible if your current BBQ allows for a conversion kit to be installed. To determine if your model can be converted you must check with your manufacturer. We can help if you are not sure give us a call and talk directly to one of our Gas Fitters.
How often should I get my furnace maintained?
We recommend having your furnace maintained once a year. It is important to have the furnace inspected by a professional to ensure that it is operating safely and at peak efficiency. Proper adjustment can lower your heating bills and performing standard maintenance can prevent breakdowns before they occur.
How often should I change my furnace filter?
You should change your filter every 3 months. If you have animals then every 2 months is recommended. You can find filters at major retailers in Ottawa, Canadian Tire, Home Depot and Lowe’s carry furnace filters. If you are not sure how to replace your filter please call or email us for direction on how to do this.
How long should my furnace last?
The average life of a furnace ranges from 18 to 22 years. Some will last longer, but those that do have usually been maintained on a yearly basis. A lot also depends on the quality of your furnace, before you buy let us help you navigate all the different options to ensure you get a great quality furnace. Payne, Keeprite and Comfortmaker are all good models, they are also owned by ICP which is owned by Carrier. When you are spending $3,000+ on your furnace we highly recommend you obtain 3 quotes before you select the company to install your furnace. Pay attention to warranty, type of furnace, who will be installing, and again make sure they are insured and have a valid TSSA license.
Should I cover my air conditioner in the winter?
You should cover your air conditioner during the winter as it prevents snow and ice from building up and resting on the fan blade and motor causing unwanted wear and tear on the unit.
